Building decors, illusions and eye catchers. Coming up and implementing things yourself. I only do this in free time and with materials that are as cheap as possible, preferably free. It requires patience not to directly implement and buy something, because otherwise it is no longer a sport for me. 

I started in 1978 as a set builder at the amateur theater. After 25 years of small sets, I built various sets for amateur musicals.

Then it was time for two years of rest. Then I copied the cockpit for the company where I work, a piece of an airplane. This was later used as a training object for the police and army. In between, an Egyptian backdrop for an amateur club, which was later partly taken over by the Efteling. A year ago it was time for a princess bed. That was given away to a little girl who was naturally delighted with it.

But these were “reproduced” things. Objects that someone had already made in that form. Even then there were many requests to make this again. Even two-person variants or a cradle in that form. But yes, then it has to be done and there is a deadline. And that makes it less fun for me.

2010. Het roer ging om. Eenmaal met mijn dochter en zoon naar Castlefest geweest, op het terrein van kasteel Keukenhof in Lisse. Elke jaar in de 1ste week van Augustus. Vooraf een beetje kritisch, is het wel wat ? Allemaal ” rare “‘ mensen en meer van dat soort vooroordelen. Niets bleek echter minder waar….een fantastisch evenement met rust en van alles te zien en doen.

De lat gaat steeds hoger en het valt al niet meer mee om elk jaar een item te verzinnen wat nog niet bestaat of gemaakt is. Want dat blijft de sport…dingen maken die niet bestaan. In de fantasy sfeer EN gemaakt van afval.
